This is an In-Circuit-Debugger compatible to Microchip's new MPLAB-6 IDE (ICD2). It was designed to use as few as possible and only common parts while providing basic functionality sufficient for home use. Even a PCB is not needed (see picture below:-), so everbody should be able to rebuild it easily at home.

Beside using it as normal programmer, you can debug your PIC's software while the PIC is operating built in the final device. Just like debugging a PC programm, you can perform single steps, set break points, read and modify data or peripherial file registers.
